The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is on its way to become the world leaders of the digital economy through the deployment of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, Big Data, Robotics, Machine Learning, 5G, Metaverse, Augmented/Virtual Reality across public and private sectors.
Saudi Arabia is advancing through data and AI and setting a world wide example in using AI for development. Saudi Arabia has established an institutional framework with Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA), National Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) and AI Center for Energy working on the agenda for Artificial Intelligence. Saudi Arabia has also launched its first AI strategy to become a global leader in AI and data by 2030.
H.R.H. Crown Prince announced mega projects rapidly catalyzing the uptake of IoT solutions and services. Key projects include: NEOM City, The Line, AlUla Smart City Project, Saudi IoT, Riyadh Metro, Intelligent Transport System, Amaala, Qiddiya, Red Sea Project and others.
The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) set a strategic pillar of National Spectrum Strategy 2025 to provide transparency to the users in the Kingdom. It will push 5G+ deployment to position Saudi Arabia among leading nations in unlocking innovative high-performance use cases and applications based on 5G.
Kingdom is among the first countries whose institutions namely Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) are experimenting the use of blockchain and allowed global firms to test new solutions in a ‘live’ environment to further deploy them in KSA. The objective it to assess the impact of technologies in the KSA’s financial sector and transform the Saudi’s market into a smart financial center.
